Hey everyone,
Hope you're all doing well & getting ready for the start of the
2025-2026 High School Swimming & Diving season!
For those who are new, I'll outline everything you need to know about Newark Swimming & Diving. For those returning, pay attention where necessary.
The first day of practice will be WEDNESDAY November 12th at Glasgow High School. At the rear of the building, there is a giant cube shaped building with giant windows. It's directly facing the baseball field. This is the Glasgow Pool!
Practices will be Monday - Friday from 6:30pm-8:30pm every day, and Saturdays on a TBD basis each week. Reminder we are not starting until WEDNESDAY 11/12 for the first week.
We ask that everyone arrives to the Glasgow Pool AT LEAST 10 minutes prior to the start of practice, so that you are able to be IN THE WATER at 6:30pm. Don't arrive before 6pm though because we most likely won't be there yet. If you do and don't see either of the coaches' or our vehicles, do not enter the pool. You'll recognize what vehicles to look for pretty soon.
Please arrive to the pool with the following, at a minimum:
- bathing suit
- goggles and swim cap (if needed)
- towel
- dry change of clothes (including a sweatshirt or jacket when leaving the pool)
You can change into your bathing suit & back into your dry clothes in the locker rooms located on the pool deck.
I need everyone to come to practice with the following documents in order of importance:
- COPY OF YOUR SPORTS PHYSICAL
- Completed NHS Swim Team Contract (located in team documents tab of TeamApp)
- Completed NHS Swim Team Booster Form (located in the team documents tab of TeamApp)
If you do not come to practice with a copy of your sports physical, you cannot get in the pool. It is very important that I have a copy of your sports physical, in addition to the Newark HS nurse, since I am the one that needs to know your medical specifics due to the fact we do not have a Newark team trainer on site. This will also be important for me to have when we travel to away meets as well.
There are no tryouts, so everyone will be on the team as long as you have a good attitude & want to be on the team!
Parents are free to drop the kids off and come back at 8:30pm for pickup.
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to send me an email at
Brett.Melcher@christina.k12.de.usSee you all soon!
Best,
-Brett
